Quills were the primary writing instrument in the Western world from the 6th to the 19th century, prized for their precision and versatility. They gradually fell out of favour with the rise of metal dip pens, but remain an enduring symbol of craftsmanship and tradition.

Favoured throughout the medieval era, quill pens performed beautifully on both parchment and vellum, producing a finer line than earlier reed pens. They were used not only for written text, but also for the intricate figures, decorations, and illuminated details found in historic manuscripts.

This quill features a rich burgundy feather, paired with a silver-coloured metal shaft, and includes a set of 6 interchangeable steel nibs for a varied writing experience. It measures approximately 25cm overall, with the metal section and nib extending about 8.5cm.

An empty ink bottle is included for convenience and safe transport.

Ideal for calligraphy enthusiasts, collectors, or anyone drawn to the elegance of historical writing tools, this quill offers both beauty and function in one refined piece.
