A medieval straw hat perfect for keeping that sun off your head and shoulders at your next medieval fair or event without spoiling any immersion.

Straw hats appear in historical European art from around the 13th century. It can safely be assumed they were used as an outdoor option as a sun barrier in clement weather, by both men and women. Depictions are in manuscripts such as The Labours of the Months, particularly in June, July, and August, which were the times of field work and labour. Decorations are scarce, perhaps owing to the fact that the straw hats were for the workers and not higher class individuals.

In any case, this hat is a suitable option for the medieval re-enactor or festival goer. A rigid hat with loose straw ends off the brim for that authentic peasant farmer look.
